Biomaterials are materials used to repair human tissue and bones which are diseased or fractured. Development of materials with an appropriate bulk and surface properties is very important for their success.Apart from possessing required mechanical and chemical properties , the surface of the implant materials should have tailored surfaces to avoid failures
This talk will cover the various techniques adopted by us to tailor the surface of the orthopedic implants to enhance biocompatibility, antibacterial activity, corrosion and wear resistance. An overview on the unique surfaces developed using plasma treatment and anodization and their corrosion and tribological properties will be presented.
