This seminar aims to present the genomic advances that are allowing predicting the genetic predisposition of an individual to develop a disease or the response that will present to a specific pharmacological treatment. This revolution has laid the foundations for Precision Medicine, which allows the early detection of some diseases and improving the decisions about the treatment that a patient will receive. Precision Medicine is becoming a reality in the healthcare systems since it allows reducing healthcare costs by avoiding the use of inappropriate therapies and decreasing the emergency room visits and hospitalizations. It is important that future researchers trained at Universidad de La Laguna in the fields of Genetics, Biomedicine, Medicine, Parasitology, and related areas get familiar with the most important advances related to Precision Medicine. Therefore, in this seminar, several experts in the field worldwide will address the main advances in Precision Medicine.
