First International Collaborative action: Institut Pasteur International Network (RIIP)-Instituto Universitario de Enfermedades Tropicales y Salud Pública de Canarias-Universidad de La Laguna

The Institut Pasteur International Network (RIIP) associates 33 institutes around the world linked by the same missions and values. The foundation of RIIP resides in the sustainability of its structures, involvement of its researchers and strengthening of human resources. The RIIP allows scientists to become involved in research at the heart of endemic areas, to share their knowledge and expertise and also to invest in the development of research groups.

The Instituto Universitario de Enfermedades Tropicales y de Salud Pública de Canarias (IUETSPC) is a multidisciplinary research institution, belonging to the University of La Laguna (ULL), which brings together researchers in different areas related to tropical and infectious diseases: Parasitology, Immunology, Virology, Genetics, Drug Discovery…. The rationale behind IUETSPC is to work towards the improvement of basic health indicators in African and Latin-American countries in order to achieve their full development, with an inter-regional collaboration framework.

The Institut Pasteur International Network and Instituto Universitario de Enfermedades Tropicales y de Salud Pública de Canarias jointly organize this First International Collaborative Action, under the title: Molecular approaches towards control of parasitic and viral threats: from the field to the bench and back. Scientists from several centers of RIIP and IUETSPC-ULL, with the collaboration of scientists form other international research centers in the area (Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine-UK, Instituto de Salud tropical de la Universidad de Navarra-Spain, Centro Nacional de Medicina Tropical-ISCIII-Spain, Institute for Advanced Biosciences-Université Grenoble Alpes- France …) will impart a week-long course between 7-11 November 2016 at the ULL-Pharmacy Section, La Laguna, Tenerife, Spain.

The course is aimed for ULL researchers and graduate students in any topic related to tropical and infectious diseases, biology, medical sciences, biochemistry, pharmacy, etc., particularly those attending the Masters’s degree in Research and Diagnostics of Tropical Diseases and the Health Sciences Ph.D Program.
